A. Location Data
For Drivers: To provide real-time bus tracking for passengers, we collect precise location data of the vehicle.
- Background Location Access: The App collects driver location data in the background from the moment a journey is started until it is officially ended by the driver. This is strictly required to allow passengers to see where the bus is in real-time and receive arrival notifications.
For Passengers/Users: We request access to your location to calculate distances, estimate arrival times, and notify you when the bus is approaching. Passenger location is only accessed while the app is actively in use.
B. Personal and Account Data
- Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and role selection (Driver, Student, Parent, or Passenger).
- Vehicle/Route Information: For drivers, we collect details about the assigned school/college route or bus number.
C. Device and Usage Data
Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and performance logs (crash data).
2. How We Use Your Information
- Real-Time Tracking: To display the live location of school/college buses on the map for authorized passengers.
- Proximity Notifications: To send push alerts to passengers when the bus is nearing their designated stop or current location.
- Service Optimization: To calculate accurate ETAs and optimize transit routing.
- Safety & Security: To ensure that only authorized users can track specific routes.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information in the following limited circumstances:
- With Institutional Admins: School or fleet administrators have access to tracking logs and driver details for safety management.
- With Service Providers: We may share location data with trusted third-party mapping and cloud services (such as Firebase or Mapbox) strictly to render maps and process routing.
- Legal Compliance: If required by law or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
4. Data Security
We implement robust security measures, including encryption and secure tokens, to protect your location data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Driver location streaming is encrypted and is only active during scheduled or live transit journeys.
5. Your Choices and Controls
- Location Permissions: You can enable or disable location tracking at any time through your device settings. Disabling this will prevent drivers from broadcasting their route and passengers from receiving proximity alerts.
- Background Tracking (Drivers): Drivers can stop location tracking instantly by ending the trip session within the App.
- Account Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us through app support.
6. Children's Privacy
Transit Pulse is designed for drivers, parents, and students. If used by students under 13, account creation is intended to be managed by parents, legal guardians, or the participating educational institution. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
